Preliminary :
This plant is native Banda Islands of Indonesia, is also grown in Penang Island in Malaysia and the Caribbean, especially in Grenada. It also grows in Kerala, a state in southern India. Other species include Papuan Nutmeg nutmeg malabarica. argentea from New Guinea, and Bombay Nutmeg malabarica from India, called Jaiphal in Hindi .

Nutmeg is now grown in tropical countries, and in the islands of Antilia. Known in India brought by the Hindus who had settled in Java and in the eastern part puIau. From India to New Guinea and Europe, Nutmeg fruit seeds and its contents are used as a spice and medicine. This plant is commonly grown in gardens and other places at an altitude of about 1000 meters above sea level. Nutmeg Plant Description :

Nutmeg Chemical Ingredients :
Nutmeg contains substances: oil fly (myristin, pinene, kamfen (anesthetize substance), dipenten, pinene safrole, eugenol, iso-eugenol, alcohol), gliseda (miristinat acid, oleic acid, borneol, giraniol), protein , fat, starch sugar, vitamins A, B1 and C. oils still contain trimyristin .

Nutmeg seeds :
Essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of ground nutmeg, and is widely used in the perfume and pharmaceutical industries. Oil is colorless or light yellow, and smells and tastes of nutmeg. Nutmeg Usefulness :
Nutmeg is known as drug release excess gas in the intestines and stomach as a drug. Skin and leaves contain nutmeg oil fly with a pleasant fragrance. Irian nutmeg is used as a laxative while the male head is used as a medicine rnencret and stimulants. Dried flowers (flower Nutmeg) used in various herbal mixtures. Nutmeg Psychoactivity and toxicity :
In low doses nutmeg produces no physiological or neurological response that is real, but large doses cause symptoms and dangers.
Nutmeg contains myristicin, a weak monoamine oxidase inhibitors. Myristicin poisoning can cause convulsions, palpitations, nausea, eventual dehydration, and generalized body pain. It is also well known as a powerful deliriant .
Myristicin fatal poisoning in humans is rare .
